The Audition/Performance Workshop
is a one day workshop for youth and adults designed to teach students numerous aspects of successful auditioning and artistic performance not normally taught or available in this area. This workshop will accommodate vocalists, actors, and dancers.
Workshop Curriculum
Performance Enhancement Techniques: Teaching the importance of confidence, poise, stage presence, and appearance. Basic Components of showmanship and developing rapport with an audience
Stage Presence and Performance: Students will have the opportunity to present a mini-audition to a panel of judges giving constructive feedback and examples geared towards correcting obvious flaws.
Choosing appropriate material: Learn how to choose the best piece for your audition. Find where to get ideas and how to tailor them to your audition and performance. Learn the importance of a well chosen repertoire.
Resumes/Pictures/Promo Packets: Tips on what a performers resume should look like and include, Good headshots vs. bad headshots, how to put together a promo packet including demos, video reels, and bios.
Getting an agent: Whether is be for film and television, Broadway, commercials, etc. there are different techniques for each of these. Learn the differences and how to find the right agent to get you working.
Impromptu Auditioning: Be taught how to improvise during an audition using different styles for the same material. Hone your skills and make the most of any audition situation.
Choosing and Improving the perfect monologue: Where to find the right monologues and how to present them and incorporate character.
Mastering cold readings: Students will be given a reading to present using different characters and then given critique.
Public Speaking: Learn how to communicate clearly and effectively- from your audition to interviews to your school book report.
Mastering dialects: Learn how to speak using regional dialects such as Cockney, Southern, British, New York and more.
Vocal Styles/ Healthy Voice: Learn the art and differences of singing pop, belt, legit, classical, etc. and when and how to use them. Learn proper techniques for vocal warm-ups, singing with laryngitis, and how to protest your voice.
Microphone Technique: Learn how to sing and speak with a microphone using control. Understand how to deal with mic stands, cords, and body microphones.
Dance Audition Techniques: Learn basic steps in Hip Hop, Modern, Tap, Ballet, etc. Bring appropriate dance shoes and clothes to move in.
Period Style Footwork: Learn period style dance steps from the Charleston, Swing, Disco, etc. their importance and how to incorporate them into your audition and performance.
Movement for the non-dancer: Everyone needs to be able to move a little bit. The more well rounded you are as a performer, the more opportunity there will be. Have fun and SMILE, even if your feet aren’t working.

Your registration includes a professional headshot!
A professional photographer will be on hand during this workshop to take headshots. This includes 2 shots on cd (high res.) for you to print 8 x 10s. Please be prepared with hair, make-up, and wardrobe. But keep in mind, the headshot photo is NOT a glamorous picture of you. Please come freshly scrubbed with ONLY a little mascara and lip gloss.

Talent Showcase
Will take place at 6:00pm the same evening of the workshop. This will give each performer the chance to demonstrate all they have learned during the day, plus give parents,
family and friends the chance to see all the
wonderful talent in the Golden Isles.
Tickets for audience will be $5 at the door. Doors open at 5:30pm

Julia Nolan- Performing Arts HS grad.; N.Y. Wagner College Musical Theatre Conservatory; Sung on many recordings and commercials incl. Maybelline; worldwide tours and shows incl. Tokyo Disney, Las Vegas, and Royal Caribbean Cruises; performance, vocal coaching & consulting.
Nikki Jatindranath- Public speaker for an internationally-known women's organization; singer, songwriter, and thespian who has performed in the Southeast, Canada and Africa; currently coaching voice and co-directing the musical "Annie" for the Arts program at St. Simon's Christian School.
JJ Everett- Started travelling as solo vocalist at age 11; 14 recordings by age 20; Has directed, written, produced and acted for over 20 years...my favorite levels being children’s and high school theatre; current High School Drama Teacher at HCA - Won Regionals last 2 years, Monologues in State, 3rd Place in State One-Act 2 years running.
Traci Matea-Sproull- Dancer for the Orlando Magic, Disney World, Vegas’ Storm, Legends In Concert; Latin Grammy's, Harley Davidson, Samsung, Matrix, Ford, and Reebok; Choreographed and directed shows in Las Vegas Switzerland, Germany, Japan, Atlantic City, and Philadelphia; Charitable events include The Christopher Reeves Foundation and The Golden Rainbow Aids Foundation .Traci owns and is the artistic director for Studio South downtown and is also a guest teacher for American Dance Projekt convention/competition.
